No fewer than 84 human trafficking victims have been rescued from a hidden mansion by operatives of the Oyo State Police Command.
As captured in a now viral video on social media, the operatives bursted into the bungalow apartment where the suspected migrants were evacuated into waiting vehicles.
The scene attracted several residents who stormed the apartment as they watched the evacuation in disbelief.
With the police van unable to convey all migrants, two 18-passenger commercial bus were brought to the scene to aid the evacuation process.
Confirming the incident to NPO Reports on Sunday, the Command’s Spokesperson, Wale Osifeso, disclosed that the mansion was bursted on Saturday at Akinyele Local Government Area of the state.
He diclosed that the migrants, including a female toddler, entered the country through questionable means.
While no arrest has been made, Osifeso stressed that investigation is still ongoing.
“84 Migrants including a female toddler who all entered the Country through questionable means have been rescued. This incident happened on Saturday 26th Saturday around Akinyele LGA.
“Investigation is ongoing.” Osifeso stated.
