Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has written to the state’s House of Assembly Speaker, Martin Amaewhule, inviting members of the chamber for a meeting.
This is coming days after the Assembly issued a 48-hour ultimatum to the governor to re-submit the nomination list for appointment after declaring the current Commissioners and other top officials appointed by Fubara illegals.
The Rivers governor, in an invitation letter dated 7th of March, 2025, and issued by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Tammy Danagogo, sought to discuss with the Martin Amaewhule-led Assembly.
As highlighted in the copy of the letter shared on X on Sunday, Fubara seek to deliberate with the Assembly on provision for a befitting space for their sittings; payment of all outstanding remunerations of the Honourable members; and the re-presentation of the 2025 budget amongst others.
The meeting is slated to hold by 10am on Monday at the Governor’s office in Port Harcourt.

Recall that the Rivers Assembly was, in December 2023, demolished by the state government following the bombing of a part of the complex amid the heat of the political crisis which rocked the state.
The demolition had raised several controversies with some alleging that the complex was demolished in an attempt to frustrate the effort of the 27 Pro-Wike members of the Assembly from plot to impeach Fubara.
The 27 lawmakers, including Martin Amaewhule, would be sacked on the ground that they defected to the opposition party.
NPO reported their reinstatement of the lawmakers by a Supreme Court ruling last month.
