Towards finding a trube between Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the House of Assembly, the Governance Advisory Council has met the Speaker, Mudasiru Obasa and the governor.
The meeting which held Wednesday had in attendance party chieftains who are members of the GAC, the highest political advisory body of the All Progressives Congress in the state.
The meeting was said to have become necessary after the rejection of 17 out of the 39 nominees sent to the House for confirmation as Commissioners.
The House had last week thrown out names of 17 nominees while confirming 22 of them.
They asked the Governor to send replacements for the rejected ones.
The Speaker, while presiding over the day’s plenary, said the confirmation followed a rigorous and detailed screening of the nominees by an ad hoc committee led by the Chief Whip of the House, Fatai Mojeed.
In a video shared after the meeting with the Governor and the Speaker, the party chieftains could be seen exchanging banters.
Those at the meeting include former Deputy Governors Femi Pedro, Sara Sosan, Adejoke Adefulire, Cardinal James Odunbaku, Chief Yomi Finnih, Chief Ajomale, Senator Ganiyu Solomon and others.
It could not be ascertained at press time if the meeting had resolved the whole issues between the House and the Governor and the possibility of the rejected nominees being confirmed.
NPO Reports gathered that the rejection of the nominees was a way for Obasa to fight back after suspected moves by Sanwo-Olu to prevent his return as Speaker of the House of Assembly.
Weeks ago, members of the House had taken turns to condemn the list forwarded by the Governor, saying the list did not reflect a concern for rewarding those who worked for the victory of the party.
Apart from that, there were allegations of lopsidedness with 12 nominees coming from Eti Osa Local Government Area alone.
Some others have raised allegations of religious bias in the choice of the nominees.
