The Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) has described as part of the party’s many strategies, the resignation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje.
NPO Reported that Ganduje had on Friday resigned from his role, citing health concern as reason behind his decision.
The former Kano State Governor was confirmed in a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka.
In his place, the party named Ali Bukar Dalori, the APC National Vice Chairman (Northeast), as the new Acting National Chairman.
Reacting to the development during its two-day inaugural regional meeting in Edo State on Saturday, the PGF acknowledged Ganduje’s resignation.
The forum’s chairman, Hope Uzodinma of Imo state, in a communique released at the end of the meeting, said the National Chairman’s resignation aligned with the party’s continued evolution.
“The PGF acknowledged the resignation of the National Chairman of our great party, His Excellency Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, in tandem with the party’s continued evolution.” He said.
Meanwhile the PGF also expressed satisfaction with the renewed coordination between the Federal and State institutions especially in the area of fiscal reforms.
The Forum pledged support for a strategic pivot towards social equity and inclusive prosperity the effectiveness of macroeconomic stabilization policies such as fuel subsidy removal, exchange rate unification, and debt rationalization.
It noted that while economic indicators show signs of recovery, growth must be further democratized through expanded investments in food security, job creation, poverty eradication, MSMEs, and social safety nets.
The Governors further reaffirmed the critical role of sub-national governments as engines for economic renewal, committing to deepen economic decentralization in line with Section 13 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), which mandates all levels of government to promote the welfare of the people.
They welcomed the increase in fiscal transfers to states and the growing investor confidence in Nigeria’s economic outlook, noting that multiple APC-led states are now attracting significant domestic and foreign direct investments.
The Governors pledging to build on this momentum to deliver infrastructure that unlocks productivity and drives inter-state competitiveness while acknowledging the FG’s efforts to professionalize procurement processes, digital governance systems, and enhance regulatory frameworks were also acknowledged,
Meanwhile, the PGF Chairman, Uzodinma, solicited for Nigerians support for the President Bola Tinubu-led administration.
“The forum undertook a comprehensive appraisal of the economic, social, security, and political trajectory of the nation. Members expressed satisfaction with the renewed coordination between the Federal and State institutions, particularly the prioritisation of fiscal reforms, food security, energy transition, infrastructural modernisation, and social sector revitalization.
“The forum encouraged all Nigerians home and abroad to rally behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR).” He stated.
Another significant highlight of the meeting was the formal welcome of the governors of Akwa Ibom and Delta States, Pastor Umo Eno and Sheriff Oborevwori, respectively.
The PGF meeting hosted by Edo State governor, Monday Okpebholo, had other APC state governors in attendance including Ogun state governor, Dapo Abiodun; Cross Rivers governor, Bassey Otu; and Usman Ododo of Kogi State.
