The member representing Surulere Federal Constituency, Femi Gbajabiamila, has resigned from his seat in the Green Chamber of the National Assembly.
Tajudeen Abbas, Speaker of the House, read Gbajabiamila’s letter of resignation during plenary on Wednesday.
Gbajabiamila said his resignation is to enable him assume the role of Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu.
During his two-decade law-making career in the House, Gbajabiamila was Minority Leader, Majority Leader, and Speaker at various times.
He was re-elected in the last general elections to represent Surulere 1 Federal Constituency in Lagos State and was sworn in as a member of the House at the inauguration of the 10th National Assembly on Tuesday.
Gbajabiamila as a Chief of Staff designate to President Bola Tinubu is expected to officially assume office tomorrow.
