- Dayo Olomu Says Dudu is Legendary
Today, I celebrate a true legend and pathfinder – “Baba” Tunde Alabi-Hundeyin aka Dudu Baba on the occasion of his 70th birthday. It’s hard to believe that I have known him for 30 years, having been present at his 40th birthday celebration all those years ago at Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria
“Baba” Tunde Alabi-Hundeyin is a name that has been synonymous with the Nigerian music and film industry for decades. I first became aware of him when I was just 17 years old, and I “gatecrashed” into the launch of Terra Kota’s debut album, ‘Lamentation for Sodom’ at the Lord’s Club, Maryland, Lagos. As the producer of the video for that album and many others that followed, he quickly established himself as one of the most talented and sought-after producers in the industry.
I remember being at the Badagry beach when he was producing the video for Mike Okri’s hit song, ‘Rumba Dance’. It was an amazing experience to watch him work, and I knew that he was truly a master of his craft. But my relationship with him truly blossomed when he produced the movie ‘Iyawo Alhaji’ – the first movie to be classified by the National Film and Video Censors Board upon its formal establishment. The movie featured K1 The Ultimate, and “Baba” Tunde Alabi-Hundeyin also produced one of his musical videos. That was in the 90s, (in my previous years) when I was then the artiste manager of K1 The Ultimate.
As I reflect on the life of “Baba”Tunde Alabi-Hundeyin, I am struck by his incredible talent, his unwavering dedication to his craft, and his passion for the Nigerian music and film industry. He has been a true trailblazer, paving the way for countless others to follow in his footsteps. His contributions to the industry are immeasurable, and his legacy will continue to live on for many years to come.
On this special occasion of his 70th birthday, I want to take a moment to honour “Baba” Tunde Alabi-Hundeyin and celebrate his incredible life. He is a true legend, and I feel blessed to have him as a big brother, elder and mentor. Here’s to many more years of good health, happiness, and continued success! Happy birthday, “Baba” Tunde Alabi-Hundeyin! Dudu Baba.
- Ex-Interior Minister, Aregbesola Dudu Deserves all Garlands
Of the few people who I am
acquainted with and who successfully married politics with arts, Tunde Alabi-Hundeyin is one.
In my reckoning, he must have been one of the best Council chairmen that ever ruled one of the biggest and most historically relevant local government areas of Lagos State.
But at the same time, he stands prominent among those who seemingly called it quit with political involvements.
Before venturing into politics, he had made his mark as a icon of the Nigerian entertainment industry. DUDU Productions became household name and his imprimatur are on many of the works of entertainment that have defined the Nigerian arts stage.
Little do many know
That Dudu produced many of the popular songs and Television series of the 80s and 90s. For a man who had brought so much joy into homes, what is it we cannot do to celebrate him after seven decades?
This is why I say DUDU, 70 garland for you. Happy birthday
