Amnesty International on Friday advised President Bola Tinubu to go beyond rhetorics and act decisively over the massacre that has claimed more than 190 lives in Plateau state.
The Nigerian office of the global body said that this is just as tension continues to rise in communities in the state over possible re-occurrence of similar attacks by terrorists.
Amnesty International said the President has not done more than merely condemning the killings demanding what he says must be a concrete move to bring perpetrators to justice.
“The Nigerian authorities must impartially and effectively investigate the Christmas eve attacks in #Plateau state.
“President Bola Tinubu must do more than merely condemning these horrific attacks. Suspected perpetrators must be promptly brought to justice,” the group said It lamented that whatever security arrangements put in place in Plateau is not working adding that the fears of fresh attacks are very strong in the communities.
“Whatever security measures put in place by the Nigerian authorities to end the violence in #Plateau state are not working, as Amnesty International receives disturbing reports of increasing tension and fear of fresh attacks across communities in Bokkos LGA,” Amnesty stated NPO Reports that gunmen had stormed villages in Bokkos area of the state killing villagers.
A mass burial had been arranged on Monday as more dead bodies littered the villages.
