The Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP) has mourned the demise of Washington Oluwagbenga Akinadewo, son of Freedom Online publisher, Mr. Gabriel Akinadewo.
GOCOP expressed its condolences in a letter signed by its President, Mr. Danlami Nmodu, and its General Secretary, Sufuyan Ojeifo.
As contained in the letter attached to a statement issued on Monday by the Guild’s Publicity Secretary, Kemi Yesufu, the GOCOP executives described Oluwagbenga’s death as saddening and tragic, adding that his passing is a huge loss to his family and friends.
The Guild urged the Akinadewo family to take solace in the focused and productive life their late son lived.
The letter read in part: “Washington’s life, though cut short, was a testament to his potential and promise. His impending National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in January 2026, consequent upon his graduation from the University of Lagos, where he studied Information Technology, was a milestone that symbolised his dedication to scholarship and nation-building. His passing is a profound loss to your family, the online publishing community, and the nation at large.
“In this dark hour, we find solace in the memories of Washington’s life, his accomplishments, and the legacy he leaves behind. May these memories bring you comfort and strength, and may the Almighty God grant you, your wife, and loved ones the fortitude to navigate this difficult time”.
The GOCOP executives prayed for the repose of Oluwagbenga’s soul and for God’s protection over his family and loved ones.
