Members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Gombe State chapter, have announced their defection from the party to the new African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition party.
This was disclosed in a post shared on X on Tuesday.
According to the post, the entire structure of the PDP has been moved to the ADC with the party’ state secretariat now converted to the ADC’s secretariat.
Recall that the National Opposition Coalition Group (NOCG) had last week adopted the ADC as its new party with former PDP Chieftain and ex-Senate President, David Mark, emerging as the party’s interim National Chairman while former Osun state governor, Rauf Aregbesola, was appointed as its interim National Secretary.
The opposition group led by former Nigerian Vice President, Atiku Abubakar also comprised of some factions of the PDP and the Labour Party.
The mass defection of the Gombe PDP members is the latest blow to hit the embattled opposition party which had in the last few months seen several elected officials and party leaders withdrawn their membership over the ongoing leadership crisis in the party.
