Search Engine giant, Google, has dedicated its Tuesday’s doodle icon to the celebration of Nigeria’s 64th independence anniversary.
In their usual display of solidarity to Nigeria during independence day celebration, Google changed its doodle icon to commemorate with Nigerians.
Also attached to the icon displaying Nigerian flag, is a post recalling how the West African country had gained independence from Great Britain in 1960.
The post also highlighted the activities of the Independence day which usually begins with a public address by the President.
“On this day in 1960, the country became a sovereign republic and achieved independence from Great Britain.
“To celebrate 64 years of independence, festivities begin with a presidential speech broadcast nationwide.
“Across the country, parades bring joy and color to the streets. School children wear the national colors of green and white and march proudly in local processions.
“Likewise, in Abuja, the civil-military parades around Eagle Square, showcasing marching bands and breathtaking aerial flyovers.
“Many Nigerians also celebrate their shared heritage and the nation’s cultural diversity by wearing outfits from various cultures or by sharing a meal of suya (spicy beef skewer) or jollof rice.
“To end the night, people gather to watch fireworks light up the sky.
“Happy Independence Day, Nigeria!” Google wrote.
