A group of gunmen has abducted a man and his pregnant wife in Edo state with N50 million ransom demanded for their release.
This was disclosed in a post shared on X on Thursday by human rights activist, Harrison Gwaminshu.
According to Gwaminshu, the couple were kidnapped in Aviele community near Auchi in Edo State.
Attached to the post was a video of the couples in the kidnappers’ den.
The kidnappers had reportedly sent to the family members of the victims.
As captured in the video, the cocking sound of rifles pointed at the couples could be heard with the man begging the assailants.
His visibly shaken wife disclosed that they have only been able to gather N7 million out of the N50 million demanded.
Another clip attached to the video showed the couple’s compound where they abducted by suspected herdsmen.
A masculine voice who claimed to be the brother of the man disclosed that they were abducted between 7pm and 8pm following their return from town on Wednesday.
“This is where my brother and his wife were kidnapped last night around the hours of 7 to 8. He was coming back from town yesterday.
“He was kidnapped in his house. According to somebody that was at home, he said he saw Fulani herdsmen taking them inside the bush.” The brother of the abducted man said.
