Some gunmen have killed a man, Spanner, believed to be one of the gang members of the chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers in Osun, Kazeem Oyewale popularly Asiri Eniba and his daughter, on Friday.
Spanner, whose wife had reportedly been delivered of a new baby, was shot dead at the Oke Ijetu area of Osogbo, along with his seven year old daughter.
Spanner, whose real name could not be ascertained at the time of filing this report, was said to have been shot at a shop said to belong to his second wife. In his bid to escape after the first shot, he fled and as the gunmen who appeared to have come for him personally pursued him and in the process, his daughter was shot.
His gang leader, Asiri Eniba, was arrested a day to the July 16 governorship election in Osun and was held till after the election.
The Peoples Democratic Party had earlier accused Asiri Eniba, of being behind attacks on its members in the violence that preceded the election.
The Ataoja of Osogbo, the royal father of the state capital, had rained curses on Asiri Eniba while accusing him and his gang members of violence in the state capital.
The road transport unionist had defended himself against allegations that he was causing violence
“I’ve heard a series of rumours concerning the attack on some APC members in Ikirun and Osogbo where my name was mentioned. I am a bonafide member of APC and I am not involved in any attack. I can’t even be used to attack party members because I have no issue with anyone”, the NURTW said.
The killing had created pandemonium in the area.
