Two policemen attached to the Majority Leader of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Kingsley Ikoro, have been killed by unknown gunmen on Sunday in Okigwe area of Imo State.
As disclosed in a post shared on X on Monday, the who were part of the lawmaker’s convoy en route the area were attacked when one of their vehicles broke down.
Ikoro had reportedly continued his journey with the rest of his team while the two officers stayed behind with the faulty vehicle.
The officers were ambushed and killed by the gun men while fixing their vehicle.
Accodrding to report, the attack and murder of the policemen is one of many at Okigwe which had over time seen repeated cases of violent incidents and insecurity.
In reaction, the Imo State Police Command has launched a manhunt with tactical teams deployed to comb nearby bushes and surrounding areas in search of the attackers.
The remains of the two officers have however been deposited in a mortuary.
