Suspected gunmen have again stormed another church in Uso town, Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State, abducting six worshippers.
As diclosed in a post shared on X on Wednesday, the gunmen attacked a Celestial church in the town.
While no casualty had been reported, six workshippers were confirmed kidnapped.
However, swift response by the police led to the rescue of one of the victims as well as the arrest of one suspect.
Confirming the incident in a statement issued by its spokesman, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, he Ondo Police Command disclosed that the gunmen attacked the church around 12:50 a.m. on Wednesday morning.
Jimoh explained that the victims were reportedly taken to an unknown location by the attackers.
“Upon receiving the report, operatives of the command, in collaboration with the Nigerian Army and local vigilante groups, immediately mobilised to the scene and commenced coordinated rescue operations,” he said.
Jimoh also confirmed the resuce of one of the kidnapped worshippers and the arrest of a suspected informant linked to the incident.
He assured residents of ongoing security operations for the rescue of thr remaining kidnapped victims.
“Security operations are ongoing to ensure the safe recovery of the remaining victims and the apprehension of all perpetrators involved,” Jimoh said.
