Francis Van-Lare, father-in-law of the late US-based Nigerian cardiologist, Ikenna Erinne, has debunked claims that the deceased was victimized.
Erinne had reportedly committed suicide after losing the custody of his children to his estranged wife, simply identified as Chibu.
In the court’s ruling, Erinne was ordered to pay $1,900 monthly child support which allegedly took a drastic effect on the doctor, resulting to his suicide.
Following his death, several concerned netizens had called out his wife with claims that his license was revoked, making him to lose his job.
Reacting in a post on his Facebook page, Francis Van-Lare, stated that Erinne’s license was never revoked.
He also explained that the child support was raised high be due to his physically challenged son who needed special care.
Francis claimed his son-in-law was never victimized as portrayed on social media.
He accused the late Erinne of failing his children.
“To set records straight . Dr Ikenna Erinne’s licence was never revoked . He has active licenses in Illinois, New York, Virginia, and Maryland so one state cannot revoke all licenses at once though none was revoked .
“The child support was set that much because he has a physically challenged son needing special care from different medical facilities plus attending a special needs school that cost money and courts consider income of both parents before making decisions .
“He is not a victim but failed his son and daughter now without their father. I just thank God he did not shoot my daughter and grand children in his madness.
“Which sane person takes his own life over money he is supposed to use to support his children ? He was asked to pay child support not alimony or spousal support as my daughter is self sufficient.
“May his soul rest in peace regardless . My family will raise the children without him regardless.” Francis wrote.
