The Special Adviser to the President on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala has charged governors of states under herdsmen attack to go and find causes of the attacks.
Bwala gave the charge while speaking on Channels TV’s Politics Paradigm Programme on Tuesday.
The Presidential spokesperson held that solving the incessant killing and kidnapping by suspected herdsmen goes beyond the herders.
Bwala disclosed that the cattle under the herdsmen’s charge are owned by retired Generals and business moguls.
Some of them, according to Bwala, are Igbos, Yorubas, and Hausas.
The Presidential spokesperson hinted possible involvement of the cattle owners in arming the herders for their criminal activities in order to fund their businesses.
“Those Guys you see in the bush moving the cattles are not the owners. The owners are retired Generals, business moguls. Some are Igbos, Yorubas, Hausas.
“But in dealing with this, you only look at those boys.
“If you want to find a lasting solution in a situation like that, from the government point of view, you go down the details and find the root causes.
“That is what I’ve been telling the governors. Go and find the root causes.” Bwala said.
He further stated that crime is now considered a lucrative business and by criminals in desperate need for money.
Bwala recounted how some repentant Boko Haram terrorists in Maiduguri returned back to the forest to join bandits after completing their rehabilitation.
