The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) now has a new Commandant-General in Deputy Commandant General of Commandant-General (CG), DCG Hilary Kelechi Madu.
This is following the expiration of the former Commandant General Abdullahi Gana's tenure today January 18, 2021. As part of the procedure, Gana officially handed over to Madu as the most senior officer in the corps at a brief ceremony in the Abuja office.
Coincidentally, Gana is leaving the office on his 58th birthday. This has made him received several birthday messages from colleagues, friends and family.
One of them is the Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu. Aliyu in a birthday message to Gana commended him for his invaluable contributions to the peace and safety of the country. Expressing her delight in felicitating with him on his birthday, the FCT Minister pointed that Gana's reign as the NSCDC boss has witnessed a lot of growth and progress within the corps, especially when the nation needs it most.
“Your invaluable contributions to the peace and safety of our country Nigeria cannot be underestimated.
“May the Almighty Allah continue to grant you wisdom, guidance and good health to discharge your duties,’’ Aliyu prayed.
