As Police Confirm Incident, Vow to Arrest Perpetrators

A gang of suspected hoodlums has attacked and vandalised the African Democratic Congress (ADC) secretariat in Edo State.
The hoodlums had reportedly stormed the secretariat with video shared on X on Thursday showing the amount of damage done at the complex.
As seen in the video recorded by one of the members of the party, the suspects pulled down all ADC flags in the secretariat with banners shredded.
Further clips showed broken glasses and destroyed CCTV cameras.
The political thugs also attempted to set the secretariat ablaze as liquid suspected to be gasoline could been poured into the building.
The party member accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of carrying out the drastic act.
Meanwhile, the development would be confirmed in a statement issued on Thursday evening by the Edo State Police Command.
As contained in the statement issued by its spokesperson, Eno Ikoedem, the Command disclosed receiving a distress call at its Control Room, reporting the invasion of the ADC’s secretariat.
While confirming the damage done at the complex, the police held that investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend those responsible, adding that its personnel had since been deployed to the area to avert further attacks.
The statement read; “The Edo State Police Command has confirmed an incident of malicious damage, thuggery at the African Democratic Party (ADC) State Secretariat in Benin City.
“The incident occurred at about 2055hrs. Following a distress call received from the Control Room, Benin, reporting that suspected hoodlums had invaded the party’s premises and were destroying properties.
“Police operatives were immediately mobilised to the scene to restore normalcy. Preliminary assessment revealed malicious damage to flags and two shattered windows in the premises.
“Security has since been deployed to the area to forestall further attacks, while investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend those responsible.
“The command appreciates the prompt call that was made to the Control room which saved the day, encourages everyone in distress to do same through its dedicated lines and warns miscreants against such heinous act as anyone found culpable will be made to face the full wrath of the law.”
