The Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, has accused the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) frustrating all negotiations with the Federal Government.
Alausa made the allegation while speaking on Channels TV’s Morning Show on Monday.
The Minister recounted how they had combined all committees in charge of tertiary institutions unions into one for effective resolution of the crisis bothering the academic sector.
Alausa revealed many measures already taken to avert the union proceeding on strike adding that the union appears to have made up its mind to paralyse the academic institutions in spite of the many concessions made by the Bola Tinubu administration.
According to him, all demands of ASUU have been addressed, stressing that the FG never at a time delayed the union.
Rather, the union, he alleged, were the one delaying the release of fund already disbursed by the FG.
The education minister held that the FG had agreed to disburse in traction N150 billion assessment needs of all the academic unions, including the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic (ASUP), and College of Education Academic Staff Union (COASU).
Alausa disclosed that N50 billion was released from the fund with agreement to be be shared between the three unions.
