Rev. Father Isaac Achi, the Paiko, Niger State priest who was burnt alive when terrorists struck on January 15 this year had survived many horrendous attacks.
Said to be a very courageous priest in the face of unending life-threatening attacks, Achi had survived the 2011 Christmas Day Boko Haram bombing of his parish of Madalla where about 44 persons were killed.
In 2013, he had escaped kidnap when his residence was invaded. he was shot at in a 2021 armed robbery.
According to Raphael Opawoye, who was delivering a tribute on the day Achi was buried, “Fr. Achi had indeed lived the life of a saint. He practically lived his life as a true disciple of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Testimonies abound. He catered for humanity as one beyond the flock of his faith. He provided drinking water for the people of his community. He offered succour to the needy in various forms. He promoted education to as many as came his way and showed the desire to be assisted. He was a peacemaker.”
Father Achi was ordained on January 7, 1995 and later transferred to Minna Archdiocese of the church from where he was moved to different parishes. He was drawn into the church in his early childhood and was very magnificent until the killers cut short his life’s journey.
