Human rights activist, Harrison Gwaminshu, has disclosed how a notorious serial killer, Kelechi Wofuru, returned to his killing spree as he abducted and murdered seven new victims months after being freed by a High Court in Port Harcourt, Rivers state’s capital city.
Gwaminshu made the disclosure in series of posts shared on his X handle on Tuesday.
Attached to one of the posts is a video showing the discovery to two bodies of Wofuru’s latest victims.
The activist recounted how the serial killer was rearrested by the police with the aid of his special team, SafeCity Volunteer Foundation, days after kidnapping a bus driver, Ifeanyi Ibobo, in Port Harcourt on Ash Wednesday.
Wofuru and his gang reportedly specialised in abducting drivers in Port Harcourt and take them his hometown in Ubima where they are killed with vehicles and other valuables taken.
“This guy has been in operation for years with his gang members.
“Last year, he was arrested for kidnapping and charged to court. He kidnapped someone. Till today, they have not seen the person he kidnapped. Getting to the court last year November, he was freed.
“From that November till February, this guy and his gang members have kidnapped more than seven persons and killed them.
“It continued until they kidnapped this man, Ifeanyi Ibobo.” Gwaminshu said.
He further disclosed how the family of the kidnapped driver had reached out to him that he has not been seen since Ash Wednesday.
As against his initial mode of operation, Gwaminshu said he reported the case to the police and tender necessary information to them which led to the rearrest of Wofuru and some members of his gang.
“The family messaged me on WhatsApp and informed me that Ifeanyi Ibobo is missing. He is a bus driver in Port Harcourt who went to hustle on a As Wednesday morning. Since that Wednesday to almost one week, they have not heard from him.
“Now, let me just tell you my work. My job is to assist victims who these issues, lead them to the police so that the police can do the right thing.
“So, when there is issue, people message me or contact me. I lead them to the police or the military. Before it was for free. But now, it is not for free.” He said.
The activist further recounted how the suspected serial killer was tracked down to his hometown in Ubima.
Following his arrest, the serial killer led the police to a bush where remains of one of his victims was found with the decaying body of Ibobo also discovered.
“February, 2026, I led my TECH team from Asaba and arrested KELECHI Wofuru at Ubima Town Rivers.
“Two of their victims remains recovered and deposited at UPTH. KELECHI Wofuru is currently in Police custody Rivers State Police Command.
“He has also mentioned some of his gang members who are also in custody.” Gwamnishu said.
He attributed the success of the operation to commander of the Rivers Police Command’s Special Intelligence and Operations Units
