A Nollywood Director of Photography, Charles Ogunkeye, has recounted the challenges of crew members behind the scenes in Nollywood as he revealed how he was allegedly chased out of his hotel room for actress, Keji Yussuf, to sleep.
Ogunkeye made the disclosure in a yet-to-be released documentary.
The documentary titled ‘Rolling without Rights” was produced and directed by Seun Oloketunyi.
It delved into the alleged exploitation, emotional abuse, and power dynamics faced by those working behind the scenes in the Nigerian movie industry.
As contained in a statement made available to NPO Reports on Wednesday, the documentary contained several accounts of movie crew members who narrated their ordeal in the industry.
Oguneye’s account, however, tend to have stolen the show as the award-winning DOP made the shcoking revelation.
In the documentary, Charles recounts how he was chased out of his hotel room so that actress Keji Yussuf could be accommodated, leaving him with no choice but to sleep on the floor through the night.
This, according to the statement, highlighted a troubling pattern of neglect and mistreatment that many crew members silently endure on production sets.
Charles’s experience is reportedly one of several captured in the documentary — a powerful, real-life exposé that sheds light on the exploitation, emotional abuse, and power dynamics faced by those working behind the scenes in Nollywood.
The documentary “Rolling without Rights” is not fiction as reiterated in the statement.
It is a raw and honest documentation of lived experiences — told by the people who’ve carried the weight of productions without recognition or protection.
The full documentary is set to premiere on Thursday, exclusively on SeunOloketuyi TV.
