Nigerian President, Bola Tinubu, has revealed how he almost quit watching news programmes on television and reading newspapers during his administration’s early days on account of the economic hardship facing the country.
Tinubu made the disclosure during his visit to Katsina State over the weekend.
The President, in his address captured in a now viral video shared on X on Monday, maintained that the economy is gradually turning around towards recovery path as compared to when he took over.
Describing the early days of his administration as challenging, Tinubu held that he remained resolute in his decision despite the challenge.
This, according to him, is the hallmark of a leader.
The President maintained that the decisions have began to bear fruit.
“The economy is turning around. It has bend the corner. When we started, it was challenging.
“I almost ran away from watching the news or reading the newspaper. I just built courage and stay put on my decisions, believing that the ability of a leader to take a decision at the right time is the hallmark of leadership.
“We took it, we stick with it and it is rewarding. It is already bearing fruits.” Tinubu said.
