Embattled Kogi lawmaker, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has again accused the Senate of victimizing and silencing her over sexual harrasment allegation against the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.
Akpoti-Uduaghan made the allegation in an interview session with BBC Africa.
NPO reported that the lawmaker representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, was slammed six months suspension over misconduct and violation of the Senate’s standing Order.
Her suspension was linked to her last month’s face off with Akpabio over seat arrangement.
Natasha would proceed, days after the outburst, to accuse the Senate President of making sexual advances towards her in 2023.
In another interview with BBC shared on X on Tuesday, the suspended Senator reaffirmed her allegation against Akpabio as she recalled what ensued between her and the Senate President.
“I am being victimized. My suspension is a means of silencing me.
“It was episode after episodes, moment after moments. We were at his country home.
“He was taking me round his house. My husband was walking behind us. He held my hand and then squeezed it in a very suggestive way.
” We women we know when a man squeezes our hand in a suggestive way. Then he went ‘now you are in the Senate, I will make an opportunity for us to come here and have good moments.'” she said.
When asked if she experienced similar treatment at the Red Chamber, Natasha disclosed being teased by male Senators whenever she is not with her wedding ring.
“There was a time I rushed to work, forgetting to wear my ring. I knew about five Senators then were like ‘Oh Natasha you are not wearing your ring! Is it an invitation to treat?’ You know statement like this” She said.
