Daniel Bwala, one of the newly appointed Spokespersons of the Atiku Abubakar Campaign Organization has revealed that contrary to widespread reports, he is not a counsel to the All Progressives Congress Flagbearer, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Bwala made this revelation when he joined the Morning Show on Arise TV from London this Friday.
Bwala alongside Senator Dino Melaye was, a few days ago appointed as spokespersons for the Atiku Abubakar Campaign Organization.
When asked about being a lawyer to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Bwala said he is only handling some cases for the APC. In his words ‘’I am only handling cases for them (APC) but have never been a lawyer to Bola Tinubu, I understand what conflict of interest is. My memory of Bola Tinubu is a sweet one, at one point in time, he promised to make me a spokesperson. Tinubu is someone I cannot and will not malign his name, image or character. When I was in the APC and I analyzed Buhari and Atiku, many thought I was playing politics. The fact that you are a Spokesperson does not mean you must insult people’s mothers because of politics. That is not how I operate; I firmly don’t believe in coming on air to insult candidates from the opposition’’.
When Ms. Tundun Abiola of Arise TV asked Daniel Bwala why the Muslim-Muslim ticket was a deal breaker for him, Bwala said ‘’Ordinarily, the Muslim-Muslim ticket wouldn’t have brought so many issues if things were different as it concerns insecurity. Your late father (Moshood Kashimawo Abiola) chose a Muslim-Muslim ticket in 1993 with Babagana Kingibe, a fantastic politician. The late Bishop Idahosa even campaigned for MKO then, but things are different now. APC is busy whipping up religious sentiments all over the place but it’s backfiring. The ticket is further widening the gap. PDP is showing that they are united that’s why I joined the party’’.
When asked as to how Atiku Abubakar would arrest the power situation in Nigeria and why didn’t he effect a change during the time of President Obasanjo, Bwala said ‘’Atiku said he wasn’t the one heading the committee set up at the time to look into the power situation, he said he gave President Obasanjo his opinion but it was rejected. According to Atiku, the VP is not the President. I remember Atiku talking about how he intends to use solar energy from the north and coal in Enugu to solve the power situation in the country. The details will be made available in the coming days, don’t forget I was just appointed yesterday’’.
On the fight against insecurity and how the APC has performed in the last seven years, Bwala said ‘’I supported the APC back then because of Muhammadu Buhari, it’s on record. I have never ceased to criticize PMB despite campaigning for him. I felt the second term should be the time for him to show us what he can do. Eight years is long enough for a party to show the citizens what they really want to do. In terms of insecurity, we are worse off than we were in 2015. In terms of corruption, we have more corrupt cases than we had during the time of PDP. In my view, we have not deployed tools for intelligence gathering. We shy away from individual information gathering, bandits use this approach against us’’.
When asked about comments credited to Governor Wike that there are plans to turn the PDP into a Northern Congress, Bwala responded saying ‘’Atiku is the last person you can accuse of ethnicity or religious bigotry. Wike has 99% of PDP blood, everybody knows that. They also know that Wike can’t go to the APC’’.
