A pro-Akpabio protester has disclosed how she and other women were mobilized to protest in support of the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.
The unidentified woman, in a post shared by an X user on Wednesday, admitted that she had no idea about the former Akwa-Ibom governor’s alleged sexual assault against Kogi lawmaker, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
According to her, they were only told to come and support Akpabio to remain as the Senate President.
“I didn’t see any wrong in what they are saying- though I don’t know much about it. I’m just supporting him because my mind led me to support him.
” I don’t even really know the whole story about the two of them.
“Why I came out is they say we should come to support Akpabio that he should remain as our Senate President.” she had said.
Recall Natasha had, in an interview on Arise TV last week, accused Akpabio of making sexual advances towards her with her rejection marking the beginning of her troubles in the Senate.
This had sparked mixed reactions amongst members of the public.
While some demanded justice for Natasha, others stood in defence of the Senate President.
NPO reported that a group of Akwa-Ibom women had, on Saturday, protested against the Kogi lawmaker.
The women took to street of Uyo, the state’s capital, calling out Natasha over her allegations against Akpabio.
Expressing their solidarity with Akpabio, they charged Natasha to stop insulting their former governor.
Meanwhile, the Kogi lawmaker had officially petitioned the Senate at the plenary held today.
She accused the Senate President of sexual harassment, misuse of office, and obstruction of her legislative function.
Reacting, Akpabio denied the allegations, claiming that he had never sexually assaulted any woman in his life.
