Former Minister of Petroleum Diezani Alison, has accused the Governor of Zamfara state, Dauda Lawal of working against her return to the country.
The former minister who is said to be at stage 2 of cancer, said she kept N9bn with Lawal adding that the Governor has been colluding with others to frustrate her return to Nigeria.
She appealed to President Bola Tinubu to allow her return to Nigeria to contribute to the progress of the country saying life is transient.
Saying she is dying of cancer, Diezani said she entrusted the money into Lawal’s care while he was an Executive Director at the First Bank of Nigeria.
“Unfortunately it has now come to a point where Mr. Dauda Lawal is no longer picking my phone calls and even worked in collaboration with UK police to put me under surveillance may be to claim the money I entrusted to him when I die,” she said
She said her relationship with Lawal was well known by her husband, and other family members.
Diezani also admitted that it was true she engaged in financial improprieties.
She begged President Tinubu for forgiveness.
