Former political adviser to President Bola Tinubu, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has held that the 2027 general election will be challenging as violence, voters apathy, and vote buying amongst others will mar the election.
Baba-Ahmed made this known in a post on his official X handle on Friday.
The former adviser to the President also noted that larger segments of the population will be angry over the election which, according to him, will be conducted under weak institutional mechanisms for sanctions and redress.
He also noted that several politicians will be desperate.
However, Baba-Ahmed maintained that Nigerians will overcome the hurdles.
“2027 elections will be challenging. Impunity, subversion, violence, insufficient transparency, apathy, vote buying, weak institutional mechanisms for sanctions and redress, cynicism and anger among large segments of the population, desperation of politicians. We can beat them.” He wrote.
Recall that the former political adviser had resigned from the Tinubu-led administration earlier this year and had since become a major critic of the administration.
He accused the administration of corruption and deviation from its pledge to serve the people.
Speaking in an interview shortly after his resignation, Baba-Ahmed claimed to have resigned over the Tinubu administration lack of drive and commitment needed to address Nigeria’s most pressing issues, particularly poverty and insecurity, which he argued have worsened during President Tinubu’s tenure.
