Governor of Ekiti State and a presidential aspirant Kayode Fayemi on Wednesday said he is at home with either direct or indirect mode of primaries to select the candidate of the All Progressive Congress.
The APC is expected to pick its party flag bearer on May 30.
But speaking shortly after his public declaration on Wednesday, Fayemi said the popular opinion over the mode of choosing the presidential candidate of the party is more tilted towards
He said he had recently visited many parts of Nigeria adding that he could feel the pulse of members of the APC.
The constitution of APC says we can have consensus, direct or indirect primaries.
But now, we have an Electoral Act which says for us to have consensus, you must have all parties signing to it.
“I think Nigeria from all my travels, inside and outside the APC seem to support primaries.
The sentiments would appear for anything but consensus.
“Primary, either direct or indirect, I have no problem with any of it.
If party members are given the opportunity to have a say, I am really confident I will carry the day,” he said
Faye said he is aware that President BUhari wants everyone to have a say in how the party handles its affairs.
