The United States Vice President-elect, Kamala Harris, on Monday, stated that she may be the first but she will not be the last.
Harris, who joined US President-elect, Joe Biden, is the first female, first black and first Asian-American to be elected to the position.
She took to her official Twitter account to reiterate that her feat will open more opportunity for people who share similar identity to attain her position.
She had during her victory speech spoke of her mother and the generations of women of all races who paved the way for the feat.
She had told a cheering and honking audience in Wilmington, Delaware, “While I may be the first woman in this office, I will not be the last because every little girl watching tonight sees that this is a country of possibilities.”
Similar to her victory speech, Harris on Monday tweeted, "I may be the first, but I will not be the last.
"It’s on those of us leading the way to leave the door more open than it was when we walked in."
Biden alongside Harris will take over the administration of the federal government of the US from incumbent President Donald Trump on January 20, 2021.
