Popular Nigerian clergyman, Pastor Paul Adefarasin, has cleared the air surrounding his encounter with a car spotter who he allegedly pointed a firearm at.
NPO Reported that the House on the Rock Church Senior Pastor and convener of the annual Experience concert had come under public scrutiny over a viral video of him chastising an unidentified content creator who spotted his car.
Rolling down his car window, Adefarasin inaudibly challenged the content creator who apologized immediately.
Just as he drove off, the video captured what appeared like a gun in his hand.
Earlier reacting in a post on his X handle, Adefarasin clarified that the object was not a firearm as purported.
He would further explain, as promised, during his sermon that he never pointed any fireman at the content creator, stressing that he was falsely accused.
Describing the video as a plot by click baiters in desperate search for money, the clergyman recounted his encounter with the content creator.
According to him, the car spotter had approached him at questionable distance which led to his reaction.
“The enticement of the enemy is always the love of money at the root of all evil. What we have had to witness was click baiters just looking for more money. I probably wasn’t even Their target.
“Their target was to make more money. I was falsely accused of bearing firearm, pointing the forearm at an aggressive content creator who came within questionable distance.
“The only thing separating me and him was about maybe a three quarters of a metre and a glass.” He said.
Adefarasin claimed he had no license to bear firearm and as such never pointed gun at the content creator.
He however expressed his shock and disappointment after the incident which occurred on Saturday was brought to his attention.
“I do not have a pistol license for a firearm; I do not not carry a firearm and I pointed no firearm at anybody.
“There is a policy not to dignify hate speech, false accusations. We believe that God is bigger than that and we believe what He has said in Romans 12:19.
“It was unique because it came home on a Saturday when I observe Sabbath because it’s a great time for me. I don’t make a huge law about Sabbath but I believe in the principles of Sabbath.
“And unfortunately, several persons called me and sent me many videos. I was shocked. I will be candidate with you. I was hurt. I am human.
“But God is touched with the feeling of our infirmities. And he is able to first give us succour.” He said.
The clergyman disclosed his decision to lay the matter to rest as he submitted that God had converted to evil intention into goodness.
“What the enemy meant for evil, he works it for good. On that note, I will lay that matter to rest.” He added.
