The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has expressed his displeasure with the state of emergency declaration in Rivers as he disclosed that he wanted outright removal of the state governor, Siminalayi Fubara.
Recall that President Bola Tinubu had suspended Fubara, his deputy, Ngozi Ordu, and members of the Rivers state House Assembly following the emergency rule declaration over the unresolved political unrest in the state.
While several hands had accused Wike of his involvement in the emergency rule declaration and the appointment of Vice Admiral Ibok-Ette Ibas as the state Sole Administrator, the FCT Minister held that he had wanted the removal of Fubara and not the emergency rule.
Wike diclosed this while speaking during a media chat in Abuja on Friday.
The FCT Minister, however, held that the President decision was right in order to prevent anarchy in the state.
“As a politician, I am not happy with the declaration of Emergency Rule in Rivers state. I wanted the outright removal of the governor.
“But for the interest of the state, the president did the right thing to prevent anarchy in the state.
“The matter is in court but people must say the truth. The governor was gone. It is not on my place to make it good for the governor.
“As a politician, my business is just to make him comfortable and that is why there is power plane,” Wike said.
When asked if he will forgive Fubara if the suspended governor apologizes to him, the FCT Minister said he is open to sincere apology from his successor.
