The Inspector General of Police,IGP Usman Alkali Baba today met with the Police Constable who won the World Boxing Foundation (WBF) International Super Bantamweight title belt at East Sussex,London, Constable (PC) Mary Yetunde Aina at his office in Abuja.
In a Press released in Abuja,IGP noted that the immense contribution of Nigeria Police Force to sports development in Nigeria urge PC Aina to remain committed as she has joined long list of police officers who have distinguished themselves in the area of sports development in the country and across the globe.
While appreciating her achievement,IGP announced a special promotion to the rank of Corporal and a monetary reward for her and her coach, Inspector Augusting Okporu.
“I commended you for your bravery, gallantry and steadfastness.” Said IGP Alikali
“You have joined the long list of police officers who have distinguished themselves in the areas of sports development in the country and across the globe”.
” I urge you all to take advantage of the several maiden, but annual, sport championships organised by me in 2021, to develop your skills and leverage on it to propel yourselves onto the world stage”. He added
Aina as a first Nigerian and African Female won championship bout following the unanimous decision on Friday, February 18,2022 with Four wins and Three knockouts.
