•As Lagos Removes Squatters
The Lagos State Government on Saturday made good its vow to force out squatters under the Ijora bridge.
The Commissioner Environment and Water Resources Tokunbo Wahab, had given one week last week for the occupants to vacate the place because of the security concerns they pose to the Blue Line rail that passes through the place.
“Following the expiration of a 5-day quit notice issued to squatters under the Ijora Causeway Bridge by Lagos State Government last Sunday, the Enforcement Team of the Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources and Special Intervention Squad on the Restoration of the Lagos Badagry Rail Corridor Clean-Up led ACP Bayo Sulaiman begin enforcement by dislodging the illegal squatters and clearing up the area as directed by Lagos State Governor,” Wahab posted on Saturday
Ijora is one of the locations in Lagos believed to be occupied illegally by illegal occupants.
The state government had embarked on massive removal of illegal occupants in the last few months as part of the government vow to rid the state of filth.
