The Chief of Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Muhammad Bashir, has died at the age of 75.
Sheikh Bashir’s demise was announced in a post shared on X on Monday.
While the cause of his death is yet to be confirmed, the news of Sheikh Bashir’s passing had since attracted tributes from netizens and public figures who took to their X handle to mourn the demise of the renowned cleric.
Notable among the public figures that have paid tribute to the late cleric was the 2023 People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential aspirant, Dr. Nwachukwu Anankwenze.
The former Presidential aspirant lauded the late Sheikh for his spiritual leadership which spanned over four decades.
He described him as a pillar of peace and scholar of repute.
“An era has come to an end. After 42 years of spiritual leadership, the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Saliu, has returned to his Creator. A pillar of peace, a scholar of repute, and a father to the Ilorin Emirate. May Allah grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus.” Anankwenze wrote.
Other netizens also paid glowing tribute to the late cleric in different posts on X.
