Former United States President, Barack Obama, has expressed gratitude to the administration of the outgoing President Joe Biden, lauding his leadership in the course of his four years reign.
Obama, in a post on his X handle on Thursday, recalled how Biden led the US to economic recovery following his emergence as President during the COVID-19 pandemic era.
In what he described as the world strongest recovery, Obama recounted how the Democrat President created 17 million jobs, lowered healthcare costs, and rebuilt the nation’s infrastructure.
“Four years ago, in the middle of a pandemic, we needed a leader with the character to put politics aside and do what was right. That’s what @JoeBiden did.
“At a time when our economy was reeling, he drove what would become the world’s strongest recovery – with 17 million new jobs, historic wage gains, and lower health care costs. He passed landmark legislation to rebuild our nation’s infrastructure and address the threat of climate change.
“I’m grateful to Joe for his leadership, his friendship, and his lifetime of service to this country we love.” Obama wrote.
Biden will be handing over to Republican President-elect, Donald Trump, on Monday to mark an end to four years US leadership under the Democrats.
Trump, who lost to Biden at the 2020 election, made an historical return to the White House with a landmark victory against Republican Presidential candidate, Kamala Harris, at last year’s election.
