Nigerian lawmaker representing Zamfara North Senatorial District, Sen. Sahabi Ya’u, has debunked viral video of him allegedly making romance with a woman.
The viral video making round on social media had shown a man alleged to be the lawmaker, kissing and fondling the woman while being recorded.
This had sparked reactions from members of the public who called out the Sahabi.
Reacting to the development in a disclaimer posted on his X handle on Wednesday, the lawmaker claimed he is not the person in the video.
He vowed legal action against those who continues to spread the video.
“My attention has been drawn to a trending video falsely claiming to feature me, Senator Sahabi Ya’u Kaura. I categorically state that I am not the person in the said video.
“Legal action will be taken against anyone who fails to take it down or continues to spread it.” He wrote.
Further confirming his uninvolvement in the video was his media aide Abdulrasak Liman.
Abdulrasak, in a statement issued on his X handle on Thursday, urged members of the public and the media to refrain from the spread unverified information.
“This disclaimer reflects Senator Sahabi Ya’u’s unwavering commitment to truth, integrity, and the protection of his hard-earned reputation.
“The Senator remains focused on his mandate of service to the people and will not be deterred by attempts to distract or defame.

“We urge members of the public, media outlets, and social media users to refrain from sharing unverified and defamatory content. Legal steps are already being considered to ensure accountability for those responsible for spreading this falsehood.” He wrote.
Meanwhile, an X user, Ubaidullah Kaura, had in his comment on the Senator’s reaction claimed that the video was a leaked old video of traditional ruler from Bodinga Local Government Area of Sokoto state.
He disclosed that the woman in the video was the traditional ruler’s wife who had in 2017 apologized over the incident.
“Contrary to the claim, the video does not feature Senator Sahabi Yau. Instead, it shows a traditional ruler from Bodinga LGA of Sokoto State and his wife.
“The video has been leaked for over eight years, and the spouse addressed the issue and apologized publicly around 2017.
“It is imperative to refrain from spreading misinformation, as it will have no adverse effect on Senator Sahabi Yau.” He wrote.
