Husband of popular actress, Mercy Aigbe, Kazim Adeoti, has cried out that he is not the same person arrested by the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA.
Adeoti, who is the chairman of Adekaz Productions, said he is surprised that many media houses had used his image in place of the man declared arrested by the anti-narcotic agency.
The NDLEA had on Tuesday declared one Ademola Afolabi Kazeem wanted for his alleged involvement in illicit drugs.
Some media houses while reporting the story allegedly used his picture along with the story.
Reacting, the CEO of Ibakatv in a statement personally signed by him and released on Tuesday said he’s known as a movie producer, marketer and a real estate investor adding that he had never in his life involved in illicit drugs or any illegal business(es).
“Permit me to set the record straight for the sake of friends, colleagues and members of the public who have reached out to me or my family on the report.
“Firstly, l am Hon. Kazim Adesoji Adeoti, the Chairman of lbakatv and Chief Executive Officer of Adekaz Productions and not Alhaji Ademola Afolabi Kazeem, who is allegedly wanted by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA),” he said
“I am a reputable movie producer, marketer and a real estate investor and l have never been involved in any illegal business (es). This fact, my friends and colleagues in the country and the United States of America, can attest to.
“All my life, l have never been involved in the use of illicit drugs let alone trafficking such. It is also important to add that l don’t own or have any affiliation with any of the property listed in the report.”
He further stressed that, he has no relationship with the Lagos socialite that has been declared wanted by the anti-narcotic agency for his alleged involvement in illicit drugs and trafficking.
“For emphasis, l am not the same person nor in anyway related to Alhaji Ademola, a hotelier and Lagos socialite that was allegedly declared wanted by the anti-narcotic drugs agency.”
He frowned at some news outlets for using his picture with the story adding that those media houses could’ve done better by digging more in the story to avail themselves the appropriate picture for the story.
“I am highly surprised and l smell foul play in the usage of my picture with the story by various media houses.
“Those media houses ought to have dug dipper for the appropriate picture to use along with their story instead of smearing my name and that of my family through the illegal usage of my picture.
I wonder what has become of investigative journalism in our country of late?
He urged his family members, business associate and general public to disregard the news adding that he deserve an unreserved apology from any news medium, bloggers or individuals who may have wrongly used or circulate his picture with the distasteful report.
“I urge my family, friends, colleagues, business associates and the general public to dispel any attempt to link me with the reportedly wanted socialite.
“Finally, my family and l expect an unreserved apology from any news medium, bloggers or individuals who may have wrongly used or circulate my picture with the distateful report.
Failure to do so within 48 hours, such news medium or blogger may be prosecuted.”
