Presidential candidate of the People’s Redemption Party (PRP), Mr. Kola Abiola has described himself as the breath of fresh air with no record of holding public office in Nigeria who Nigerians need.
Abiola stated this at the Town Hall Meeting Series organised by the Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD) in collaboration with Arise TV in Abuja on Sunday.
The son of the late business mogul, Moshood Kasimawo Abiola promised Nigerians that he would not bring the baggage of past administrations and recycled politicians into governance when elected.
He said, “We are coming to the federal level with a clean slate because we are not carrying the baggage of any administration or any party. We want to use that to turn Nigeria around and fight for the people.
“I never run for governorship, state chairmanship or local government council. The point I am trying to make is that the leadership has tried over the years; so many recycled and different people every time. The leaders stay in one party or they jump parties.
“But for the first time, we have a candidate here in PRP that hasn’t been there or any party at all. Let us try a fresh hand to solve Nigeria’s problem. Now, security is an issue.
“We represent what it means to be fresh, especially what it takes to ensure that the ones coming behind us have an opportunity to decide their own destinies in a united Nigeria.”
Speaking about insecurity in the country, Abiola promised to reinvent Nigeria security architecture if elected president in 2023.
He also vowed to improve on the welfare standard of the men of the Nigeria Armed Forces.
He said, “We need to address the security architecture. The will is there, we need to ensure implementation and look at the welfare of our armed forces.

“If you meet a bandit leader and he says there’s no difference between you and us, what would you say?
“The trust has been eroded, the common man cannot feel the presence of a government, I’m coming with zeal to change this mindset,” he said.
He further stated that Nigerians must vote for their future, adding that “it is not about sentiment.”
