President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has revealed that over 300 Boko Haram and bandits commanders have been eliminated in the course of his administration.
Tinubu made this disclosure during his nationwide address in celebration of Nigeria’s 64th independence anniversary on Tuesday.
Speaking on the country’s security status, Tinubu claimed his administration is winning the war on terror and banditry.
While maintaining that his administration’s target is to eliminate all the threats poised by Boko Haram terrorists group, banditry, and kidnapping for ransom amongst others, the President disclosed that over 300 commanders of the terrorists group and bandits across the nation.
“On the security front, I am happy to announce to you, my compatriots, that our administration is winning the war on terror and banditry.
“Our target is to eliminate all the threats of Boko Haram, banditry, kidnapping for ransom, and the scourge of all forms of violent extremism.
“Within one year, our government has eliminated Boko Haram and bandit commanders faster than ever.
“As of the last count, over 300 Boko Haram and bandit commanders have been eliminated by our gallant troops in the Northeast, Northwest, and some other parts of the country.” Tinubu said.
The President, however, urged Nigerians to believe in his administration and seek their cooperation to build a greater nation.
