The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has cried out that its officials are being held hostage in Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa State. The commission announced this on Sunday while calling for help to rescue its officials.
“Unfolding Situation in Brass Local Government Area. The Commission is closely watching the situation in Brass LGA of Bayelsa State where our officials are held hostage.”
“This is detrimental to credible elections. We call on the security agencies to immediately facilitate their release.”
An official of the commission, Ms Ebehireme Blessing Ekwe, who is a Supervisory Presiding Officer (SPO), was abducted a day to the election only regaining her freedom on Sunday
