The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has updated the African Democratic Congress’ (ADC) profile on its portal with former lawmaker, Sen. David Mark, and former Osun state governor, Rauf Aregbesola, confirmed as the party’s National President and Secretary respectively.
This was disclosed in a post shared on X on Wednesday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi.
As seen in the post, Mark and Aregbesola were both named the ADC National President and Secretary respectively Ibrahim Ahmad was identified as the party’s National Treasurer.
Independent check on INEC’s portal by the NPO Reports further confirmed the development.
As updated on the portal, the commission also formally recognised Akibu Dalhatu as the party’s National Financial Secretary while Prof. Oserheimen Osunbor stand as the ADC’s National Legal Adviser.
The development further cemented the legitimacy of David Mark and Aregbesola as the party’s national leaders amid agitations by factional members of the party who rejected the leadership of the duo.
Recall that Mark and Aregbesola had emerged as the incumbent national leaders of the ADC following the adoption of the party by the National Opposition Coalition Group (NOCG).
The group, comprising of prominent political opposition leaders such as former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, former Rivers state governor, Rotimi Amaechi, and his Kaduna counterpart, Nasir El-Rufai, had on the 2nd of July adopted the ADC ahead of the 2027 Presidential election.
