Former Presidential candidate, Dele Momodu, has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of plot to see President Bola Tinubu emerge as the sole candidate for the 2027 Presidential Election over the commission’s withdrawal of its recognition of the David Mark-led African Democratic Congress’ (ADC) National Working Committee (NWC).
NPO Reported that INEC had on Wednesday resolved to derecognise the ADC leadership in compliance with the Court of Appeal’s ruling.
Reacting to the development in a statement issued on his X handle, Momodu faulted INEC’s decision, citing the commission’s recognition of the Nyesom Wike-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) despite ongoing case.
Momodu also INEC’s inaction over the alleged clash between different factions of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Ovation Magazine publisher accused the commission of orchestrating Tinubu’s emergence as sole candidate which he claimed was last experienced under the late Gen, Sani Abacha military regime.
“The speed at which the current INEC swiftly recognized the WIKE faction of PDP immediately convinced me about the robotic nature of our INEC.
“There are different factions in APC fighting in different States, but INEC cannot touch them.
“With all the Governors coerced or cajoled and cheaply converted to APC, the ruling party is still feverishly jittery.
“The ultimate aim of TINUBU and his acolytes is to produce a sole candidate in the 2027 Presidential election…
“The last time such a brazen attempt was made was during the ABACHA era, 1993-1998.” He wrote.
Momodu disclosed that INEC’s decision will be challenged in court which he accused of compromise.
He however expressed hope of divine intervention over the case.
“Now that the INEC has summarily “derecognised” ADC, the last hope would be the courts, and even that is very precarious.
“But there’s always the GOD factor, which is always beyond human comprehension and expectation.” Momodu added.
