Insecurity: Interior Minister Says Sacrifice of Nigerian Fighters Not in Vain

Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has assured Nigerian Immigration Service, NIS, officers that their efforts in serving the country would not go in vain.

He explained that the Federal Government had vowed to continue to support them and implement programmes that will support their welfare.

Aregbesola said this at the Rotation Ceremony of NIS Contigent of HQ 7 Division Nigerian Army Operation Lafiya Dole in Maiduguri. 

The ceremony was held at the Nigerian Army Forward Operation Base, Airport Road, Abuja on Wednesday.

"During my address titled, "Serving  and Defending the Country with Honour", I assured the officers that their efforts and sacrifice and of those before them shall not be in vain as the Government will continue to support them and implement programmes that will support their welfare", Aregbesola wrote on his official Twitter handle.

He also urged the officers to be of good moral conduct while upholding the core values of the NIS.

"I also encouraged them to be the very best of the NIS and good ambassadors. I urged them to exhibit professionalism in their conducts and exude the ethos and core values of 

Nigeria immigration which centers on discipline, competence, excellence, professionalism and fairness.

"It is worthy of note that the government’s objective is to quickly and timely defeat and conclude the war against insurgency and terrorism in the North East, as well as other new emerging security challenges around the country."

This is even as he commended the Nigerian Military for fighting the war against insurgency and keeping the country safe.

"I wholeheartedly commend the efforts of the Nigerian Military and the entire JTF operating in the NE and Nigeria in general for the great job they are doing to keep the nation safe and secured. Their sacrifice and commitment are well noted and appreciated by the Nigerian people",he added.
