The Upper Chamber of the National Assembly refused to listen to security chiefs on Wednesday as the lawmakers said the meeting with the security chiefs must have in attendance other critical stakeholders in the security matter.
Honouring the summon from the Senate made earlier, the Chief of Army Staff, Taoreed Lagbaja, Chief of Air Staff, Hassan Abubakar and Chief of Naval Staff, Emmanuel Ogalla, had arrived with the intention to answer questions over the rising spate of insecurity in the country.
Though the three heads of security agencies made their way to the chamber, the senate president, Godswill Akpabio told them they would not be able to make any presentation because of the absence of the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, Defence Minister, Bello Matawalle, and others.
Akpabiohowever revealed thatsaid his office received an apology letter from Ribadu for his absence.
He frowned atthe absence of Mr Musa, an army general.
The Senate President, thereafter, announced that the meeting will be postponed to Tuesday next week.
“We thank you all for honouring our invitation for the very important interface on the way out of the lingering security crisis at hand. But due to the absence of the NSA and the Chief of Defence Staff, the interactive session will no longer hold today,” Akpabio said.
