Backs NDC’s Stance on Support Groups’ Function
- Safiu Kehinde
The 2027 Nigeria Democratic Congress Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has faulted the OK Movement’ formation of Presidential Campaign Council.
Obi backed the NDC’s stance on the functions of suppoet groups, stressing that they strictly to support the party and not take over the party’s role.
The former Anambra state governor made this known while speaking on Arise TV’s Prime Time programme on Thursday.
He maintained that the NDC remains the sole determiner of the decisions with support groups limited to supporting the party.
“NDC is the political party we all belong to and agree with the position of the leader (Dickson).
“OK movement, Obidient group, Kwankwasiyya, and other supporting groups are supporting groups, they must play their role in supporting the party, they should not play the role of the party.” He said.
Obi faulted the OK Movement’s formation of a campaign council, which he claimed was done without his approval or that of his running mate, Rabiu Kwankwaso.
“We found a situation where one of the supporting groups formed a presidential campaign council. It shouldn’t be. It is wrong.
“OK Movement is Obi and Kwankwaso. Whatever you do must have the approval of both of us.” The presidential candidate said.
