A former Senator Shehu Sanni, has alerted President Bola Tinubu of alleged attempts by former Governor of Kaduna state, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, to cause civil unrest with some of his pronouncements.
Sanni said Tinubu either cautions the former Kaduna governor or allows him to create crisis for his government. In a tweet made on Wednesday, Sanni, a political foe of el-Rufai, said the former Governor wants Tinubu to run the country with what he called “malice and vindictiveness.”
He alleged that while Tinubu is trying everything to pacify the Christian segment of the country, el-Rufai prefers the President to run the way he (el-Rufai) ran Kaduna. “The Government of Tinubu is trying to Calm and appease the Christian population in the country while the retired Kaduna Emperor is still stocking the embers of religious bitterness, hate and strife with his inflammatory utterances,” he said.
Saying that Tinubu needs to act fast Sanni wrote, “He wants the country to be run with malice and vindictiveness against a certain section and against a certain faith as he once did during his divisive and tragic tenure in Kaduna.
“It’s left for the President to allow him to trigger a crisis, tear or incinerate the country.Nigeria is still a fragile country, we must be careful.”
Sanni, who was elected to the senate on the platform of the All Progressive Congress fell out with el-Rufai leading to his defection from the APC.
He later lost election. He has since been a constant critic of the el-Rufai administration while also throwing jabs at the Federal Government especially under former President Muhammadu Buhari on some its policies.
