The 24 abducted schoolgirls in Kebbi State have regained the freedom a week after their kidnap by armed bandits.
NPO Reported that the students were last week abducted by the bandits in an early morning attack on Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga town.
Their abduction had sparked alongside other reported attacks and abductions in Niger and Kwara states had sparked nationwide call for their release.
The Federal Government’s announcement of the release of the 38 worshippers kidnapped in Kwara and over 50 pupils abducted in Niger on Sunday had also renewed call for the release of the Kebbi schoolgirls.
The students were eventually released on Tuesday evening.
Their freedom was confirmed in a now viral video of them in a bus.
Also confirming the release of the students was the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
The Presidential spokesperson, in a post shared on his X handle, disclosed that all the students were rescued with no one left behind.
“All the 24 Kebbi schoolgirls fully accounted for. No one left behind.” Onanuga wrote with a video attached to the post showing them in the bus as an official conducted headcount of the girls.
