A Bus Rapid Transport (BRT) vehicle has caught fire along the Third Mainland bridge in Lagos, sparking panic among motorists.
A disclosed in a post shared on X by the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), the incident occured around 1pm on Monday.
Video attached to the post showed the high-capacity bus engulfed in fire.
While no casualty was reported, the incident had however caused traffic gridlock along Adekunle, inwards Iyana Oworo road.
“A high-capacity bus is on fire on the Third Mainland Bridge, by Adekunle, inwards Iyana Oworo, affecting traffic.
“Efforts are ongoing to put out the fire, and our officers are on scene managing the traffic situation.” The post read.
Subsequent video posted by LASTMA captured the arrival of the Lagos Fire and Rescue Service as fire fighters attempt to subdue the inferno.
