Vice President Kashim Shettima has on Thursday presided over the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The Vice President chaired the meeting on account of President Bola Tinubu’s absence.
NPO Reported that Tinubu had on the 15th of August departed Abuja for a 12-day trip to Japan and Brazil.
The President had in the course of the 12-day trip attended the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9) in Yokohama, Japan, before heading to Brazil where he oversaw the signing of the Bilateral Air Service Agreement (BASA) between Nigeria and the South American country amongst other activities.
While Tinubu had departed Brazil yesterday, Shettima stood in for him at the NEC meeting as the nation awaits his arrival.
According to report, the meeting had in attendance the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum and Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazak.
The Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, was also present at the meeting.
Other attendees are governors of Zamfara, Jigawa, Lagos, Anambra, Gombe, Imo, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Benue, and Ondo states, as well as the Rivers State Sole Administrator.
